JACKSON, Wyo. — The Animal Adoption Center (AAC) is bidding adieu to a beloved team member after 18 years: “The Dogfather.”

Del, a Community Entry Services client, has been working with the AAC for nearly two decades, helping to care for the animals waiting to be adopted. To honor his years of service, the AAC is throwing a retirement party for Del, which will be free and open to the public.

“I don’t have any pets but all the animals at the AAC are my buddies,” Del told Buckrail. “It is fun being The Dogfather. I have worked at the AAC for 18 years!”

Del’s colleagues at the AAC are sending him off with warm wishes.

“Del always brings a smile into the office,” AAC Advancement Director Jenna Martin told Buckrail. “He makes sure to spoil all the dogs with lots of love and we will miss having his energy here on a daily basis. Cheers to a long career and a well-deserved retirement. It won’t be the same here without him but The Dogfather legacy will live on forever!”

The party will be held at the AAC on Friday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. Complimentary beverages from Snake River Brewing and Westside Wine and Spirits will be served, and food from the Sagebrush Grille food truck will be available for purchase.

“Del’s kind-heart and loving-spirit always reminds us to lead with love, be patient and gentle with all (humans & animals alike)!” Martin said. “He has brought invaluable lessons to the animals in our program and our team that we will never forget.”
