JACKSON, Wyo. — Astoria Hot Springs has upped the ante after dipping its proverbial toes in the water last year for the debut of Amplify Astoria, a successful fundraising concert on-site in Hoback. For the event this Saturday, the nonprofit has secured Widespread Panic’s keyboardist JoJo Hermann along with Southern-themed food and other goodies while you soak.
Hermann is no stranger to Jackson Hole, performing at the Mangy Moose with his former blues-rock band Beanland in the late ‘80s, the last two years as a soloist, and a few times with Panic. He has released several solo recording endeavors under two different, though similar names—John Hermann and John JoJo Herman—including 2001’s Smiling Assassin, the follow up Defector (2003) with guests Cody and Luther Dickinson, and his latest, 2023’s It’s Complicated. Hermann’s style has a direct correlation to New Orleans style jazz and blues “boogie woogie,” covering classic songs from his early influences such as Professor Longhair, Otis Spann and Otha Turner alongside his original compositions. Several side projects over the years include JoJo and his Mojo Mardi Gras Band.
Astoria Park Conservancy is currently completing the nearly 100-acre park surrounding the popular hot springs. The development will include a system of walking trails and wildlife watching overlooks, restoration of three existing ponds and immense wetlands, and gathering spaces such as a large picnic lawn with multiple picnic shelters, a Kiosko, and a nature playground.
Consume live music while enjoying a hot spring soak and supporting Astoria. Tickets are all-inclusive including a drink ticket, food ticket, a gift bag, and an artsy hat.
