JACKSON, WY— The community has been preparing for years, but the airport will be officially closing to travelers this upcoming Monday, April 11.
The project, which began in October of 2021, has progressed on the timeline and is now closing for a full runway reconstruction from April 11 to June 28. This 78-day closure will include a total reconstruction of the runway, something that hasn’t happened since the 1970s.
During this time, runway material will be excavated, and a new subbase will be placed and paved. Taxiways’ A4 and A1 will also be reconstructed during this time as well as a portion of Taxiway A2. Crews will be working 24/7 during the 78-day closure to complete the project on schedule.
Simultaneously, work will be done to the restaurant area which will allow for additional space and updated seating and service areas. This project is set to continue after the reopening and will impact food and beverage options for travelers.
Commercial air service to/from JAC will resume on June 28th, 2022.
