PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Sublette County will begin implementing cheatgrass treatments on BLM lands on July 15.
According to a press release from the BLM Pinedale Field Office, the treatments are run in coordination with Sublette County Weed and Pest Control District, the U.S. Forest Service and the State of Wyoming.
Sublette County Weed and Pest will use multiple helicopters to treat areas along the Wind River front and the Wyoming Range daily through August. All roads heading toward the active treatment zones will be marked with signs. The public is asked to avoid these areas in order for work to continue. Updates can be viewed on the Sublette County Weed and Pest website.
Cheatgrass is a non-native invasive grass that competes with native vegetation for resources. This treatment is part of an ongoing, large-scale project by the Sublette Invasive Species Taskforce to control cheatgrass and limit its spread.
