Accident on icy I-80 kills California man

WYOMING – A California man was killed Tuesday on Interstate 80 near Laramie after his vehicle hit an icy patch and overturned.

Wyoming Highway Patrol was called to the scene at 6:47pm on December 11 for a fatal crash occurring at milepost 302 on Interstate 80 near Laramie. Troopers ascertained a 1994 BMW driven by Reuben Archie, 61, of Oakland, California, was traveling east on Interstate 80 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the icy highway. The BMW went off the roadway and overturned.

Archie was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

This is the 109th fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2018 compared to 121 in 2017, 111 in 2016, and 142 in 2015 to date.
