YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — It’s time! Jackson’s closest entrance to Yellowstone National Park (YNP) has opened for the season.
YNP’s South Entrance is the last of the park’s five entrances to open to visitors, providing access to Grant, West Thumb, Old Faithful, Bridge Bay and Lake Village. From Jackson, visitors can hit two parks in a row when they start in Grand Teton National Park and travel up to YNP through the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway (the protected space between the two parks).

The connector between Tower-Roosevelt and Tower Fall is also open as of today. Dunraven Pass, connecting Canyon Village to Tower Fall, is expected to open on May 22, and Beartooth Highway traditionally opens in time for Memorial Day weekend, too.
Park roads are scheduled to close for the season on Oct. 31, as usual, with the exception of the road connecting the North Entrance to the Northeast Entrance, which is open year-round.
See Yellowstone’s dedicated Park Roads website for further information. Sign up for road alerts by texting 82190 to 888-777.
Visitors: Remember to bring bear spray and know how to use it. The bear attack that occurred earlier this week is still being investigated, so certain trails and campsites around the Old Faithful area remain closed until further notice.
