YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Seasonal access to Yellowstone National Park is about to expand.
On Friday, May 3, the East Entrance is scheduled to open for the season, allowing travel to Lake Village and Canyon Village. Yellowstone’s announcement of the opening dates noted that winter weather is expected to be a factor that day and could end up delaying opening operations.
Then, on Friday, May 10, the South Entrance is due to open to vehicles, opening up visitation to West Thumb and Old Faithful. Also opening on May 10 is the road connecting Tower-Roosevelt to Tower Fall.
Dunraven Pass, connecting Canyon Village to Tower Fall, is expected to open on May 24. Operational dates for Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph Scenic Byway have yet to be announced.
The park’s West Entrance opened to vehicles on April 19, kicking off visitor season. The North and Northeast Entrances are open year-round.
