WYOMING — Christmas Day may have passed, but until the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve many friends and families around the globe are still sitting warm at home watching these timeless classics with their loved ones.

This winter holiday website Comparitech gathered data on which Christmas movie is the most popular in each state. Wyoming’s favorite was none other than the holiday classic “The Santa Clause” released in 1994 featuring Tim Allen.

According to the data map, Utah is the only other state that shares the same favorite as our square state. “Home Alone” took the cake in many states, along with other classics like “The Polar Express”, “Elf”, and “The Grinch”.

Methodology

Using the top 50 films on IMDB’s list of Christmas movies that are most popular among IMDb users at present, they searched each film individually on Google Trends to find which state scored the highest. This was then the designated film for that state. If any state came up twice, they used the film that ranked higher on Google Trends. If a state didn’t appear top for any of the movies, they searched through all of the 50 films to see which was most popular in the state according to Google Trends.

Movies where no data was available on Google Trends were omitted.
