TETON VALLEY, Idaho — Wyoming Public Radio listeners on the other side of the Idaho state line can now hear the programming loud and clear on a new and improved FM signal, Wyoming Public Media (WPM) announced Wednesday.
According to WPM, the opportunity arose to improve radio service in Idaho when the Federal Communications Commission accepted applications for new noncommercial educational FM radio station licenses for the first time in more than a decade. The FCC approved WPM’s new signal, 89.9 FM, to be transmitted from Ryan Peak.
“This new signal, broadcast with more powerful equipment and from an improved location, will increase signal coverage area and improve signal quality throughout Teton Valley and surrounding communities,” WPM announced.
The 91.7 FM channel still offers Wyoming Public Radio for now, but soon it will transition to playing “Wyoming Sounds” exclusively.
“WPM is committed to serving Teton Valley for the long haul,” the company said.
