KELLY, Wyo. — A new “Wyoming Chronicle” episode on Wyoming PBS will commemorate the centennial of the Gros Ventre Slide near Kelly.

The 30-minute feature, set to air on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m., will explore the 1925 event that left a scar on the north face of Sheep Mountain and eventually destroyed a town and formed a new lake.

According to a press release from Wyoming PBS, the episode includes interviews with Mariah Radue, a U.S. Forest Service geologist, and Todd Stiles, a Jackson District Ranger for Bridger-Teton National Forest. Experts have estimated that approximately 50 million cubic yards of rock, trees and earth were displaced in the slide.

After the episode premieres on Friday, it will be available to stream on the Wyoming PBS website and YouTube channel.
