JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) announced its plan to carry out striping work on WY22 between Pratt Road and Skyline Ranch on Friday, Sept. 27.

This project coincides with continued paving work on US89 through town, which has caused traffic delays this week, including slow-downs on WY22 during commuting hours.

WYDOT said this project is expected to take one day. Crews from WYDOT, Ames Construction and S & L Industrial will be grinding off the old highway paint between 4 and 7 a.m.

“Operations will be off the road for the morning commute and will resume again at 9:30 a.m.,” WYDOT said in its announcement. “After 9:30 a.m. crews will be striping new lines on the roadway. … Following the striping work on the road, crews will be painting arrows on the roadway. As crews stripe the new arrows, there will be two lanes of travel open, one in each direction, until the work is completed. Crews should finish all the striping work before the evening commute the same day.”

Lanes will be painted to allow for a new center acceleration lane on WY22 for vehicles turning left off of Pratt Road, designed to let drivers accelerate and merge with eastbound WY22 traffic.

“This will improve access to the highway for residents using that approach,” WYDOT resident engineer Bob Hammond said in the announcement.

WYDOT advises drivers to expect “minor delays” tomorrow.
