UPDATE: As of 7:30 p.m., the fire’s estimated size has reached approximately 300 acres, per the National Interagency Fire Center. BTNF had posted at 4:18 p.m. that the fire had grown to encompass 80 to 100 acres, and then 150 acres by 6:15 p.m.. The fire has spotted over the road. Three interagency hotshot crews and two initial attack crews are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, per BTNF, and additional resources have been ordered.
JACKSON, Wyo. — A 2-acre wildland fire is actively burning on the Bridger-Teton National Forest’s (BTNF) Blackrock Ranger District as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Spread Creek Fire is burning in timber, torching and spotting in high winds near Sagebrush Flat at the top of Spread Creek, BTNF posted to Facebook. The Rescue 22 helicopter, a wildland fire module, two type-3 engines and a 10-person module from Teton Helitack are responding.
“More resources are being ordered to help with suppression efforts,” BTNF posted. “The public is asked to please stay off the Flagstaff Road while firefighting efforts are underway.”
