JACKSON, Wyo. — Starting on Wednesday, March 6, The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and Ames Construction, Inc. will be shifting traffic lanes to work on the wildlife box on WYO 390 and the new signal installation.

Drivers are to expect narrower lanes across the Wilson Bridge. The left and right turn lanes on southbound WYO 390 approaching WYO 22, and the left turn lane and through lane on eastbound WYO 22 approaching the WYO 22/WYO 390 intersection will be narrower.

According to WYDOT, this is the first phase of lane shifts across the bridge. The second phase of lane shifts onto the newly constructed wildlife bridge is planned for Friday, March 23.

Construction for the Snake River bridge project started in Feb. 2023 and is anticipated to continue for the next two years to replace and expand the bridge and improve the WYO 22 and WYO 390 intersection. The construction will also build four new wildlife crossings, including two concrete box structures. A box culvert comes in many sizes and allows wildlife or pedestrians to cross underneath the ground or road.

WYDOT’s priority is motorist and construction crew safety. Commuters are to drive slowly through the construction zone and follow all speed limits, directional signs and flagging instructions.

Unpredictable weather and other variables may cause last-minute changes to the construction. WYDOT will update the public with timely information. Information about the current work going on at the WY 22/WY 390 intersection and Snake River Bridge can be seen here. Drivers can sign up for 511 Notify alerts here.
