JACKSON, Wyo. — In anticipation of winter weather, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has shared its upcoming construction schedule for the Jackson area.
According to WYDOT, work is going on in several areas, so drivers are asked to be aware of the following projects and to plan their travels accordingly.
Millward St. and Broadway Ave. signal replacement
WYDOT and contract crews from Modern Electric will be mobilizing equipment and cutting concrete at the intersection of Broadway Ave. and Millward St. beginning Monday, Oct. 14. According to WYDOT, crews will be replacing the traffic signal that was struck and damaged. Construction crews will also begin to remove the sidewalk on Millward St., causing a lane closure. The work should last roughly a week, weather permitting. WYDOT asks drivers to be aware of roadside workers and flaggers, and expect lane closures and delays during this time.
The Y intersection traffic signal replacements
WYDOT traffic crews are finishing up installation of the new blank out signs (automated signs that display traffic instructions) on West Broadway Ave., near the Y intersection with WY22. Work is expected to conclude the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 15, according to WYDOT.
Crews will also be changing the signal heads on the traffic lights, going from a five-section signal head to a four-section signal head, replacing the solid green bulb with a flashing yellow arrow. Electrical crews will be installing the new signal heads on the side poles at four locations. The right turn lane at the Albertsons will briefly close to complete the pole signal work. There will also be a brief time when the signal will be reprogrammed and it could flash during that time, according to WYDOT. The impact to traffic is anticipated to be minimal.
Snake River Bridge construction
Crews have finished the final lift of pavement through the intersection of WY22 and WY390, near the Snake River Bridge. Beginning the night of Tuesday, Oct. 15, WYDOT traffic crews will be striping the newly paved areas from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. This work is scheduled for one night.
In addition to the striping work, contract crews will be reducing traffic to one lane on the Snake River Bridge on the night of Friday, Oct. 18 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. to pull the temporary shoring underneath the bridge and prepare for the next phase of work. The closure will allow crews to remove sheet piling at piers three and four. The closure should last one night, according to WYDOT.
Teton Pass construction
WYDOT crews will be performing ditch cleaning work beginning on Monday, Oct. 14 around the Idaho state line at milepost 15.5 on the west side of Teton Pass. The work will require one-way alternating traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during weekdays. The work should take about two weeks, according to WYDOT.
WYDOT asks drivers to expect delays during the day, and adjust their travels accordingly, and be aware of construction signs, traffic control devices and roadside workers.
