WILSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has announced two planned closures on Friday, Jan. 12, for avalanche mitigation purposes.

Teton Pass, WY22 between Wilson and the Idaho State Line, will be closed at 3 a.m. for avalanche control.

“Extended closure time is possible and should be planned for,” WYDOT said. “Reduced visibility, winter driving conditions and increasing avalanche hazard may force an earlier closure.”

Parking at the summit of Teton Pass and Coal Creek will be unavailable beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11. WYDOT anticipates that parking in those areas on Teton Pass will remain closed all day Friday.

WYDOT will also perform avalanche mitigation in Hoback River Canyon, U.S. 191/189, on Friday at 9 a.m. Depending on conditions, the closure time might change.

“It is possible that this closure may be delayed pending other operations,” WYDOT said.
