JACKSON, Wyo. — Winter weather has caused the closure of Teton Pass, as well as an advisory by Teton County Emergency Management to avoid all unnecessary travel in Teton County and the town of Jackson.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) had issued a travel alert encouraging drivers to avoid using Teton Pass if possible at 3:38 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. WYDOT then announced that the pass was closed in both directions due to winter weather as of 6:09 p.m. A reopening time has yet to be announced. See the agency’s Teton Pass webcam for conditions.

Teton County Emergency Management’s alert, regarding roads in the town and in the county, was issued at 6:04 p.m.

“No unnecessary travel advisory issued for Jackson and Teton County roads,” it reads. “Roads are open but travel is not recommended due to hazardous driving conditions. Driving during hazardous conditions may interfere with maintenance personnel’s efforts to improve road safety. Delay road travel until conditions improve.”
