JACKSON, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has further amended its plans to pave US89 through Jackson.
As of Thursday afternoon, the agency’s plan is to focus on the Y intersection on Friday, Sept. 27. Crews from WYDOT and Evans Construction will work on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., but not on Sunday. Weekend work had been added to WYDOT’s schedule earlier this week after weekday work hours were shortened in response to significant traffic generated by the paving project.
Friday will also see roadwork done on WY22 a few miles northwest of its intersection with US89. Crews will stripe the highway between Pratt Road and Skyline Ranch, adding a center turn lane for vehicles entering the highway from Pratt Road.
Next week, crews will move to the portion of the highway northeast of the Y intersection, working on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“If all goes well, the majority of the disruption with paving will be completed by the end of next week,” WYDOT District Construction Engineer Peter Stinchcomb said in the announcement.
The agency noted that paving was complete on the highway from High School Road to “just shy of the intersection with South Park Loop Road.”
“WYDOT is still encouraging drivers to avoid the construction areas on Broadway and consider other modes of travel for the day, such as school or public buses, biking or walking,” the update reads.
