JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A white wolf was captured on camera picking at an elk carcass on Snow King Mountain, just a few hundred yards from a heavily-trafficked recreational area in town.
Shane Rothman set up his Bushnell trail camera because he was pretty sure something wild had been coming around. He had already verified fox and other critters with the camera. But he was surprised to see a wolf appear on May 8.
Rothman admitted thinking it was a dog at first but the animal in the short video is indeed a collared wolf. Rothman has run across dozens of winter-killed elk carcasses on the mountain this spring.
Rothman posted the video on his Free Snow King Facebook page.
No, it's not a dog. A collared wolf makes an appearance about 100 feet from the top of the proposed East Side Chairlift to help clean up this winter's leftovers. Footage from Monday 5/8, 6:45pm.
