YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Yellowstone National Park (YNP) issued a winter weather advisory on Friday afternoon, alerting visitors that expected snow might close Sylvan Pass and other roads.

Winter weather is expected in the park tonight, particularly in higher elevation areas and along mountain pass roads. YNP forecasts a 90% chance of five to nine inches of snow along Sylvan Pass, which is located on the East Entrance Road.

Staff will continue to evaluate conditions through the weekend and open/close roads as necessary.

Beartooth Pass closed Friday due to snow and ice accumulation.

Park visitors can check YNP’s Park Roads website, call (307) 344-2117 for recorded information and/or sign up to receive Yellowstone road alerts via mobile phone by texting 82190 to 888-777.
