JACKSON, Wyo. — Winter weather is just around the corner.

The National Weather Service Riverton Office (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch, which will be in effect from Saturday evening to Monday afternoon.

The advisory predicts moderate to heavy snow for the Tetons, Gros Ventre Mountains and Yellowstone National Park, with total accumulations between 8 and 14 inches possible. Wind gusts could reach 40 mph. Lighter snow is also expected for lower elevations west of the Continental Divide.

“Travel could become difficult, especially across Teton Pass and Togwotee Pass,” the advisory says. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.”
