UPDATE: Buckrail spoke with Battalion Chief Mike Moyer about the two fires ignited yesterday, Sept. 2.

A single tree ignited yesterday likely caused by a lightning strike, causing the Munger fire. Located on private land the fire is less than .10 of an acre. It is located on the northern hills of Munger Mountain.

A second fire, the Red Top fire, is located on forest service land. The Forest Service is managing the less than one-acre fire.

A helicopter was on the scene yesterday, conducting multiple bucket drops.

No structures are affected. Fire crews are monitoring the situation this morning.

WILSON, Wyo. — The storms this morning over the Jackson Hole Valley brought rain and lightning, likely causing a wildland fire.

A wildland fire was reported this morning, Sept. 2 about 8.5 miles down South Fall Creek Road.

Crews responded to the report at 11:40 a.m. According to Fire/EMS there are two small fires, both presumed to be due to lightning strikes. A helicopter was on the scene.
