WORLAND, Wyo. — Wyoming’s nastiest wildfire this summer continues to burn south of Worland as a larger national team has been called in to assist.

Hot, dry, and windy conditions have allowed the Neiber Fire to grow to approximately 7,800 acres Wednesday. The fire is 40% contained.

A Type 3 Incident Management Team will assume command of the incident Thursday, and additional firefighting resources have been ordered.

According to Bureau of Land Management sources, firefighters from several agencies have been working hard to overcome the challenges of the difficult terrain. Area residents are asked to avoid Neiber Road to allow firefighting crews to access resources to the fire.

The fire grew tripled in size in a matter of hours Wednesday afternoon. No injuries or property damage have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
