Wilderness Adventures shuffles leadership headed into 2018 summer camp season
JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Jackson-based Wilderness Adventures announced today the addition of William Ross as its new Base Camp Director, and the promotion of Jackie Barrett, former Base Camp Director, to the role of Admissions Director.
Barrett will handle all admissions and enrollment for the Wilderness Adventures operation. Ross will take over as the head of the company’s day camp operation at Snow King Mountain.
Owner/Director Tom Holland said, “Jackie has been a fantastic asset to Wilderness Adventures. Last year, she excelled at the challenge of kicking off our inaugural year of Base Camp, and now we are thrilled to expand her duties to take on the Admissions Director position for all Wilderness Adventures’ programs.”
“I am excited to take on the challenge of a new role at Wilderness Adventures and see Base Camp led by a great leader in its second year,” Barrett said.
Prior to her role as Base Camp Director, Barrett worked for many years at Teton Valley Ranch Camp.
Ross is a graduate of the University of Oregon where he majored in environmental geography. Prior to joining the Wilderness Adventures team, Ross worked for Columbia Sportswear in Portland, Oregon. He first became acquainted with Wilderness Adventures while working as a trip leader for the company in Hawaii.
“In Willy, we are getting an amazing camp professional. His leadership and energy will take Base Camp to new heights,” Holland said commented.
Ross said he is looking forward to being a part of the leadership team at Wilderness Adventures and bringing new creative ideas to Base Camp. “I can’t imagine working and living anywhere else,” he added.
Since 1973, Wilderness Adventures has offered summer travel adventures for youth to destinations around the world. With an emphasis on character development and leadership, the organization utilizes the world’s most iconic outdoor destinations to grow the hearts and minds of its participants. In 2017, the company launched Base Camp at Snow King Mountain in Jackson. This new day camp program expanded the offerings of the company to serve 1st through 5th graders in a traditional day camp setting.
