JACKSON, Wyo. — Dave Hansen Whitewater is excited to announce that the 2020 rafting season is off and paddling! June 1 was the first day in which commercial operators were able to get eager customers soaked in the Snake River Canyon of Bridger Teton National Forest.

There haven’t been many years in the past when the first trip of the season featured river flow levels of 22,000 cfs! All of the guides in the valley have been training and are ready for the season, and many of the guides have even been running their own rafts down the whitewater section over the past couple of weeks.

Dave Hansen has been running scenic trips for the past couple of weeks and it has given their guides a great chance to ease into the rafting season under the new COVID-19 protocols.

Along with limiting the number of people and number of parties in their rafts, Dave Hansen has also implemented the following protocols to mitigate the risk of COVID-19:

  • Customers are required to wear masks when they are in the office or being transported in vehicles.
  • Customers are not required to wear masks on the river but are encouraged to bring them.
  • All office employees, drivers and guides are required to wear masks within six feet of customers.
  • All transactions, waiver signatures and check-in procedures are being done remotely before each trip.
  • Bathrooms and changing rooms are being disinfected between each trip transition.
  • All buses and vans are being cleaned and wiped down after every trip transition.
  • All equipment (life jackets, helmets, paddles, rafts, and wetsuits) will be cleaned and disinfected between each use in compliance with guidelines for that particular equipment.
  • For more details and updated protocols, please go to Dave Hansen’s Covid-19 Alert Page

Dave Hansen calls all of its customers 48 hours in advance to explain the current guidelines mentioned above. All customers are just excited to be able to do activities again and have been happy to cooperate with all of the protocols.
