JACKSON, Wyo. — Life after Clark Allan won’t be easy—personally and professionally—for County and Prosecuting Attorney Erin Weisman. She will find a new chief deputy prosecutor but she’ll never replace Allan.
“Besides working alongside Clark, he is a friend of mine. A good friend. This loss cuts pretty deep,” Weisman told Buckrail.
Allan was appointed Circuit Court Judge for the Eighth Judicial District serving Converse County—a job he begins January 4, 2021. Allan served as deputy prosecutor for Teton County since 1999 where he is chief of Teton County’s criminal division. As such, his workload was tremendous, Weisman said.
“He handles felonies, misdemeanors, juvenile offenses…he’ll be tough to replace,” Weisman said. “We’ll be looking for a new chief deputy with extensive trial experience in all these areas.”
Weisman will advertise for Allan’s position with the Wyoming State Bar and other outlets to find the best candidates.
For Allan, the move from the attorney table to the bench is a welcome one, even though it means moving his family to the Douglas area.
“I am very humbled to have the opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Wyoming as a Circuit Judge in the Eighth Judicial District,” Allan said after learning Gov. Mark Gordon had tapped him for the new role. “I will do my best to fulfill my obligations honorably and in a manner that gives due respect to all who come before the court. I also want to thank the many good people who have acted as mentors over the years and prepared me for this new challenge. I love Wyoming.”
