UPDATE: Buckrail has just received word that the Teton Lift will also be spinning for opening day!
TETON VILLAGE, WY— It looks like the weather is almost as excited about opening day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort as we are—there’s snow in the forecast all weekend, just in time for the lifts to start spinning.
Dust off your skis (if you haven’t already) and get ready for opening day Saturday, November 24. Sweetwater Gondola, Teewinot, Casper, Teton and Apres Vous will all start spinning at the crack o’ nine Saturday morning, and the forecast might even give us a few powder turns (up to two feet by Sunday? Yes, please). Snowmakers are also taking advantage of these cold nights, and will have the mountain sparkling by Saturday (be sure to give them a high five when you see them).
Of course, opening day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is more than just a day. JHMR is rolling out the red carpet all weekend, with events to pump you up for the upcoming season, sales to complete your 2018/19 winter outfit, and food to keep you fueled.
The Aerial Tram won’t be open to skiers just yet, but it will be spinning from 10-2 on Thursday and Friday to carry people to Corbett’s Cabin, where you can get some world-famous waffles at 10,000 feet. Take in the sights while you’re up there and start planning your lines.
Back at the base, Jackson Hole Sports is open to help you with all your gear and outfitting needs. JHMR is also offering Black Friday deals at all of their stores. Get 10% off all merchandise, 15% for passholders.
In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Blizzard of Aahhh’s — AKA the ski movie that started it all— Teton Village Sports is hosting an opening day party and movie screening at the Pink Garter Saturday night. There are two chances to watch the movie Saturday night: a family-friendly showing at 6 p.m. and a 9 p.m. showing for people 21 and older. There will also be tons of raffles and giveaways! Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $10 and available at Hoback Sports, TVS or Pink Garter Theater at 4 p.m. the day of the show. Sales will benefit the Jackson Hole Babe Force, empowering women to get out side through events, awareness and scholarships.
The wait is nearly over. In the meantime, check out JHMR’s countdown blog for some drool-inducing powder videos from the past few seasons. Start JH Dreaming, and see you on the slopes!
