DRIGGS, Idaho — The National Weather Service’s Pocatello, ID, office (NWS) has extended the flood warning in Teton Valley originally issued on Tuesday, June 4, noting that snowmelt could cause flooding of the Teton River near Driggs “until further notice.”

“At 4.2 feet, lowland flooding occurs along the river in the Teton River bottoms from Bates Bridge Sportsman’s access down-river to Idaho Highway 33 and further down-river to 1000 North,” Friday’s flood warning said.

Some river access boat ramps might be under water, according to NWS. Water also might cover 600 South and North Cedron Roads.

The NWS noted that river was expected to rise above flood stage on Friday night, with the potential to reach 4.5 feet by Monday afternoon, “remaining elevated through much of next week.”

Teton Valley residents and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution when walking near riverbanks. It is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters. For more flood safety information, see the NWS website.
