JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Longtime Teton County Commissioner Paul Vogelheim confirmed he will not seek re-election to the Teton County Board of Commissioners when his term runs out at the end of the year.
“It has been a great privilege and honor to serve my fellow Teton County residents for the past decade. After careful consideration and prayer, I have decided not to seek reelection this fall,” Vogelheim said in a prepared statement. “I have been humbled by the support and trust I have received from this community to serve in this capacity and will be forever thankful for this incredible opportunity. After completing my term, I look forward to focusing on my family and to continuing my work on a variety of community and national boards.”
Vogelheim pointed to a few highlights from his decade on the BCC that he was particularly proud of.
- An amazing team of county employees who continue to step up their level of service with best business practices and resilient attitudes to serve to this community.
- The rebuilding of the Housing Authority Department which is now delivering cost effective workforce housing solutions jointly with the Town of Jackson and with greater participation of the private sector.
- The delivery of transportation solutions based on an improved relationship with WYDOT. This partnering will provide funding for public transportation and wildlife crossings, plus improve our traffic problems with a smarter county road network as an alternative to bigger five-lane highways.
Vogelheim has served as a Teton County Commissioner since 2008 and was the recipient of Wyoming’s 2016 Commissioner of the Year -“Riding for the Brand.” He also serves on the boards of ConservAmerica, Jackson Hole Air, and was one of the founders of the Jackson Hole Food Cupboard. He is the lone Republican on the BCC.
He served six years as the chair for the Jackson District of the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver—Scouting’s highest award for adult service. He is a past President of Ring Lake Ranch and has been on the boards of Jackson Community Foundation, Rotary Club of Jackson, Teton Youth & Family Services and the Teton County Republican Party, where he currently serves as chair.
“When it comes to local government, we must work to ensure that every voice is heard and given the opportunity to make a real difference in our community. It truly is the most effective platform for democracy to work, so I encourage every resident of Teton County who cares about our future to consider getting involved,” Vogelheim added.
A native of San Francisco, Vogelheim has lived in Wyoming since 1997 with his wife and two daughters. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and has held a variety of senior management positions over the past 25 years, including Director of Proprietary Services for OTR Global, the General Manager of a one of the largest window manufacturing plants on the West Coast and the Start-up Manager for an Australian steel-decking manufacturer in Anchorage.
