VICTOR, Idaho — A Teton Valley cultural and historical landmark, Pierre’s Theatre, formerly Pierre’s Playhouse, has been revitalized for another chapter of entertainment.
Pierre’s first opened in 1941 as the 225-seat “New Paramount Theater,” and in 1950 simply became known as “Paramount Theatre.” In 1963 the building was purchased by the Egbert family and converted to an old-fashioned melodrama theatre, lasting decades until it closed in 2006. During those early years, the theatre was only open in the summer, and guests would get bussed in from Moose Creek Ranch for nightly entertainment and chicken dinners.
Pierre’s was again reopened in February of 2010, this time as a movie theatre, and the only indoor theatre in Teton Valley. In 2020, the business closed, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anne Fish, a former dancer, musician and graduate of the University of Wyoming, purchased the building in 2021 on a bit of a whim, after hearing it was for sale and worried the historical landmark would become just another laundromat.
Fish comes from a philanthropic family, with both parents involved in the arts, and explained that she wants to make Pierre’s “a community gathering spot for Teton Valley… a place of culture and entertainment… and joy!”
“I see all different segments of our communities on either side of the Tetons being able to enjoy Pierre’s,” Fish said.
With the new ownership, For the first time in Pierres’ history, Fish has acquired a license to serve beer, wine and cider. She’s also established “Patio at Pierres Theatre”, a nice space to gather and enjoy food and drink in the Patio directly to the left of the theatre. Anne plans for the revitalized theatre to appeal to the old and new guard of Teton Valley. To bring people together, whether it’s a showing of Teton Gravity’s latest mountain bike film, or hosting violin virtuoso Elizabeth Pitcairn playing her Stradivarius Red Violin with a “Soirée Musicale” and VIP champagne reception with hors d’oeuvres.
Fish even hopes to stream Sunday football games, Formula 1 races, and host Patio grill-outs.
