VICTOR, IDAHO. — City of Victor Mayor Will Frohlich has extended the mask order previously instated from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31.
The extended order goes into effect on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 12:01 a.m.
It directs owners and operators of all public indoor spaces, including offices, restaurants, manufacturing, gyms, sports facilities, recreation centers, retail stores, hair salons, bars, churches, government buildings including schools, and any facility that is not a private residence within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Victor to require their employees, students and others under their care to wear a mask or face covering that is compliant with CDC guidelines while indoors, regardless of their vaccination status.
According to the order, the general public is still “strongly urged” to wear masks when in public indoor spaces, but there is no civil or criminal penalty imposed on those who do not.
While the previously issued order had an expiration date of Oct. 31, this order has been issued to remain in effect until “earlier terminated or once the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare exits from the current state of Crisis Standards of Care, a practice of health care rationing.”
The order also states that the order does not prevent an owner or operator of a public indoor space from imposing their own mask requirements on their employees, customers, and others under their care.
“While I think everyone should wear a mask indoors to limit the spread of the virus, I cannot expect owners and operators of indoor spaces to be the mask police and force people not under their direct control to wear a mask,” said Mayor Frohlich in September.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners met on Monday and discussed the Teton County mask mandate in effect until Dec. 31, 2021. Teton County Health Officials urged the Board to keep the mandate in effect.
