Victor hires planning and zoning director

TETON VALLEY, IDA – The Victor City Council unanimously confirmed the appointment of Ryan Krueger as Planning and Zoning Director during a special meeting on November 27.

Mayor Jeff Potter said, “We’ve been deliberate in our search for Victor’s next Planning Director. Mr. Krueger brings to the table the level of experience, innovation, and professionalism we’ve been after. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re looking forward to him joining our team.”

Krueger has served as a city planner for the City of Troutdale, Oregon for the past two and a half years, most recently holding the title of Senior Planner. During his tenure in Troutdale he has primarily focused on the City’s long-range issues, including town center planning, urban growth, floodplain management, and hazard mitigation.

Ryan Krueger (center) manages to make planning an entertaining venture on his podcast ‘Pints with Planners.’

Krueger is a graduate of Clemson University’s Masters of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) program, completing his degree in May 2016 with research focusing on housing affordability in Western US resort communities. He passed the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) exam in November 2018 and he expects to receive his professional planning credentials in early 2019.

“I am excited to bring my passion for planning to the City of Victor, and to call Teton Valley, with all its natural amenities, home,” Krueger commented.

Krueger is also the creator and co-host of an urban planning themed podcast entitled Pints with Planners, a broadcast launched in partnership with the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association. Prior to his return to graduate school, he spent almost a decade employed in the outdoor industry and nonprofit administration in Bozeman, Mont., and Jackson, Wyo.

Krueger will begin at the City of Victor on January 2, 2019. Until then, the City of Victor will continue to contract with local planner, Ashley Koehler, to process applications received in the Planning and Zoning Department and begin a six-month code review.
