Victim and suspect ID’d in Cody homicide

CODY, Wyo. — Police have released the names of both the victim and the suspect in a homicide investigation.

The Caster Star Tribute reported the victim has been identified as Angela Elizondo, 40, of Cheyenne.

Cody Enterprise reported that 45-year-old-old Joseph C. Underwood was arrested on charges of transporting a body from Cheyenne to Park County. Underwood is a former Cody resident who currently resides in Cheyenne.

Investigators believe Elizondo was killed outside of Cody, likely in Cheyenne, and then dumped outside of Cody where a hunter found her Saturday afternoon.

Underwood’s bail has been set at $1 million.

The homicide is being investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.
