Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Interim Battalion Chief Chris Stiehl told Buckrail that the cause of the vehicle fire was unknown. Stiehl stated that the motorist had been driving on the Pass when she noticed her vehicle was overheating. She pulled over, then noticed smoke coming from the hood. When emergency responders arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Staff from Stations 2 (Wilson) and 6 (Moose-Wilson Road) suppressed the fire with water. They were concerned with wildfire risk, given current conditions, but determined there was no further threat to the public once the flames had been extinguished.
