LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming plans to announce Friday the three candidates for acting president.

The Laramie Boomerang reports a six-member committee of the university’s board talked with potential candidates to select the three finalists.

Trustee Macey Moore says the board will meet in executive sessions next week to choose the acting president.

Moore says Staff Senate President Renee Ballard and Faculty Senate Chairman Ken Chestek will be invited to interview the finalists during the board meetings.

The board plans to vote for an acting president next Friday.

Meanwhile, the husband of outgoing University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols has taken a job at the University of Montana.

Tim Nichols will become dean of the University of Montana’s honors college in July.

Laurie Nichols tells the Laramie Boomerang she has no plans yet to take a job at the school in Missoula, Montana.

University of Wyoming officials announced in March that Nichols’ contract would be allowed to run out June 30 and she would become a faculty member. Nichols says she plans to be on the University of Wyoming faculty for at least a year.

Tim Nichols led the South Dakota State University honors college from 2008-2016, when his wife was provost at that university.
