JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Emergency Management issued a “Go!” evacuation notice for the Upper Gros Ventre area east of Goosewing Ranch due to the Pack Trail Fire at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Residents must leave the area by noon on Monday, Oct. 14.
“Upper Gros Ventre east of Goosewing Ranch has been put into GO! evacuation stage,” the alert reads. “Leave by noon on 10/14/2024. Visibility in area will be reduced and roads/evacuation routes can become blocked; if you do not leave, you could be trapped, injured or killed.”
Teton County Emergency Management uses a “Ready, Set, Go” scale for wildfire evacuation readiness. The Upper Gros Ventre had been in the “Set” stage for the past week.
The Pack Trail Fire continues to grow, according to running updates by Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF). On Sunday morning, BTNF reported that the fire had reached the size of 75,370 total acres, with 611 personnel working to fight it.
BTNF’s Sunday morning update said crews would focus on the Gros Ventre area.
“On the west flank, firefighters are patrolling the Burnt Ridge area as the fire creeps slowly downhill,” the update reads. “Structure protection crews are wrapping buildings, installing hose lays and setting up sprinklers at Elk Track Ranch and in the Gros Ventre area.”
