Elks Lodge Thanksgiving dinner in 2016.

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The tradition continues as the Jackson Elks Lodge No. 1713 will once again host a free community Thanksgiving Day meal. This free event is open to the entire community regardless of need. Turkey, all the traditional Thanksgiving sides, plus desserts, will be available.

“This is a continuation of the free community Thanksgiving meal that used to take place at the old Teton Steakhouse,” said Lisa Sprague, Exalted Ruler of Jackson Elks Lodge No. 1713. “The beautiful thing about taking on this tradition is that the Elks can now provide a place for the entire community to come together, share a meal, meet new people, and give folks a sense of belonging.”

A value and tradition that the Elks are carrying on from the old Teton Steakhouse days is the idea that even if you have a Thanksgiving dinner to attend with family and friends, you are welcome and encouraged to come to the Elks as well.

“There is going to be plenty of food,” said Jackson Elks Thanksgiving Kitchen Committee Chair Valerie Peterson. “We get very generous donations of turkeys, sides, and desserts from Elks members, community members, and local businesses. I want to be sure no one leaves hungry, and that no one has to be alone on this holiday of family and togetherness.”

Elks members start cooking and preparing the feast days before the event.

Sprague added, “If you’re new to Jackson, have lived here all your life, or are somewhere in between, the Jackson Elks want to invite you to come be a part of our community. At least stop by for a slice of pie and chat with some new friends.”

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22 from 11am to 3pm at the Elks Lodge on Broadway.
