JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Most people us are busy making last-minute holiday preparations. Eggnog, tree-trimming, gingerbread houses, caroling—that kind of stuff. But for a select band of brothers and sisters, visions of fast breaks, three pointers, and blocked shots fill their dreams.
For years, the Jackson Bronc basketball family has had a reunion game over the holidays, when Bronc alumni return home from school and jobs for the holidays to reunite with former teammates and, in the process, scrimmage the current Bronc varsity basketball teams.
This year, the tradition gets a little more festive, with the first annual Bronc Basketball Alumni Weekend, December 29-30. All former Bronc basketball players, coaches, families and fans are invited to reclaim past hardwood glory, reconnect with former teammates, and meet the current Bronc family.
The weekend kicks off Friday night, December 29, with a Happy Hour from 6-8pm at the Elks Lodge. There will be food, drink, prizes, and live music.
Saturday is the Alumni Bowl, starting at noon with two round robin tournaments for the alumni men and women. The winning teams advance to scrimmage the Bronc Girls Varsity team at 6:30pm and the Bronc Boys Varsity team at 7:00pm.
Saturday’s events take place at the Jackson Hole Middle School Gym and will feature halftime performances from the Bronc Dance Team and Jackson Hole Youth Basketball.
There is a $5 suggested donation at the door of both events. All proceeds benefit Jackson Hole basketball programs.
Alumni interested in playing should contact Isaac Hayden.
The Bronc Basketball Alumni Weekend is supported by Blue Collar Restaurant Group, Dave Hansen Whitewater, Fine Dining Restaurant Group, Jh Flower Boutique and MADE.
