JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited (JHTU) announced today that they will proceed with their annual Tie One On Banquet tonight, in light of the sudden loss of board member Spencer Morton earlier this week.

Morton was the owner and founder of the Jackson Hole Fly Fishing School. He is remembered as a loving husband and father, a gifted angler and a dedicated conservationist.

“He was an enthusiastic and thoughtful board member who consistently showed up for our local conservation efforts, spearheading fish rescues, giving feedback on stream restoration projects, teaching the next generation and helping raise funds and awareness for TU,” said the JHTU Board in a letter to the community earlier today.

The Tie One On Banquet is an annual event that will be held online this year. The evening features a silent and live auction, with proceeds going to support Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited’s conservation efforts. The live-streamed event will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. tonight, May 14. A portion of the evening will be dedicated to highlighting Morton’s contributions to the fishing community and TU’s mission, and supporters will be asked to contribute to the educational trust for his children.

Buckrail’s condolences go out to Morton’s family, friends and loved ones at this time. To read more about Morton’s life and legacy, click here.
