JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Buckrail has learned that Travis Ziehl has lost his battle with brain cancer. He passed away last night, 14 months after his diagnosis in early December 2017.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Monika and the family.
Snake River Brewing held a Mug Club Mile last May to raise money and awareness. SRB says it will forever retire Travis’ #118 mug.
Travis’ wife, Monika, had this to say on her husband’s Facebook page:
Just before 11pm last night, Travis took his final breaths. Though he made great efforts throughout the day to keep fighting, in his last few minutes he was at peace. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and pictured him running through the mountains again. He was strong, and happy, and healthy, and back on the trails he loved and missed so terribly much. Free of the body that had failed him these past fourteen months. He was beautiful. This is how I choose to remember him.
I love you babe. You have brought more to my life than I ever could’ve possibly imagined. I will carry you with me everywhere I go. You will always be in my heart.
