Tram opens for summer today

JACKSON, WY — Big Red is waking up from her spring hibernation and is ready to roll for the summer season.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will open the Aerial Tram for business today, May 18, at 0900. In true Western fashion, there’s a good chance the first day of summer at JHMR is actually a powder day. But there are still ample opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and, of course, world-famous waffles.

The Aerial Tram pierces the sky and carries passengers 4,139 to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain in just 12 minutes. The summit offers panoramic views of the Tetons, Jackson Hole Valley, and surrounding mountain ranges, plus miles of hiking, running, and rock climbing. And waffles. These waffles are no joke.

Wax your skis (but remember that skiing in-bounds is prohibited), dust off your hiking shoes, dial in your camera, and get your appetite ready for a glorious start to the summer season. The tram will run every day from 9-5. The cheapest way to ride the tram in the summertime is to buy your tickets online ($7 off compared to the walk-up price!).
