JACKSON, Wyo. — Move over, spring cleaning. It’s time for an autumnal tidy-up.
The Town of Jackson and Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling (ISWR) have announced a slate of fall clean-up programming, including a free residential yard waste drop-off event at the Rodeo Grounds on Friday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Residents are invited to bring leaves, grass, pumpkins and branches to the event, either loose or in compostable bags. Free bags are now available for pickup at Town Hall, the Public Works Administrative Office and the Recycling Center.
ISWR notes that participants are expected to unload and sort their yard waste at the event. This is not a curbside collection event. Dog waste and all other forms of trash will not be accepted. This service is intended only for residential yard waste, not commercial waste.
Similarly, the Trash Transfer Station will accept up to 500 pounds of residential yard waste free of charge from Monday, Oct. 30, through Friday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Materials collected at these events will be composted locally by Terra Firma Organics.
While there will be no Pumpkin Smash this year, pumpkins are welcome at these sites, and a designated pumpkin bin will be available at the Recycling Center through Friday, Nov. 10. Candles, decorations and adornments must be removed from pumpkins before disposal.
The Town of Jackson has also announced the dates for Fall Burn Week, which will run from Saturday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 5. Town residents hoping to conduct a controlled burn must contact the Jackson Hole Law Enforcement Agency at 733-2331 before taking any action. Do not burn trash. Only burn dry grass, leaves, twigs, small branches and clean wood.
