JACKSON, Wyo — Winter is fast approaching, and Teton County and Town of Jackson departments are preparing to complete seasonal maintenance to ensure safe pathway access throughout the valley.
The Town and County Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments are reminding the community that residents and business owners are responsible for clearing tree limbs, shrubs, snow piles and other moveable objects from streets and sidewalks to allow for adequate snow removal.
A press release from the Town and County states that the rules are laid out in Town ordinances. Property owners also must prune overhanging branches to maintain 12 feet of clearance above streets and 10 feet above sidewalks. All trimming and clearing is required to be complete by Tuesday, Nov. 15.
“Our community’s annual Fall Cleanup in early November provides everyone a timely incentive to prepare properties, streets and sidewalks ahead of heavy snowfall,” the statement reads.
During the winter, Town ordinances prohibit anyone from placing snow or ice on sidewalks, roads or fire hydrants. Residents are asked to follow those restrictions and to remind plow contractors as well.
The winter parking ban on Town roadways will go into effect on Nov. 1. For snow removal purposes, street parking is prohibited from 3 to 7 a.m. until April 15.
