JACKSON, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson is preparing to fill a vacancy on Town Council in January 2025, after current council member Arne Jorgensen assumes his new role as Mayor, leaving one seat open for a new councilor.

Jorgensen is scheduled to be sworn in, along with Kevin Regan and Devon Viehman, on Jan. 6, 2025, according to a Friday announcement by the Town. At the regular Town Council meeting scheduled for later that day, the council is expected to declare a vacancy and proceed with considering an application, selection and appointment process for the vacant seat.

“The Town encourages residents to consider applying for the anticipated vacancy,” Town said via press release. “To be eligible, applicants must be: at least 18 years old, a resident of the Town of Jackson, a citizen of the United States [and] a qualified elector.”

A qualified elector as defined by the state of Wyoming “includes every citizen of the United States who is a bona fide resident of Wyoming, has registered to vote and will be at least 18 years of age on the day of the election at which he may offer to vote. No person is a qualified elector who is a currently adjudicated mentally incompetent person, or who has been convicted of a felony and his civil or voting rights have not been restored.”

Town Council will appoint the new councilor, who will serve the remaining two years of Jorgensen’s former term, concluding in January 2027. The position comes with an annual salary of $41,000 plus health insurance coverage eligibility.

Those interested in applying should begin preparing a resume and cover letter. Contact Town Manager Tyler Sinclair at tsinclair@jacksonwy.gov or (307) 734-3480 with questions.
