JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson’s Town Council and Board of County Commissioners will meet next week for a conversation about the town’s need for affordable workforce housing.
Discussion will center around requirements for developers whose projects create a need for additional local employees. These policies were last updated in 2020.
“The purpose of this update is to ensure that affordable workforce housing is provided by developers proportionate to the impact on the need for housing their development creates,” the County’s press release reads.
Recent updates to the Employee Generation by Land Use Study (also known as the Housing Nexus Study) will likely guide policy updates. The study takes into account the employment needs of different kinds of development, budgeting for everything “from servers and sales-people to critical responders like firefighters and police officers,” according to the release.
The meetings will include a presentation from a professional consulting team with input from a group of local business and development representatives.
The joint meetings will be open to the public (in person and via Zoom), unfolding over two half-day meetings on July 12 and 13 at the Teton County Administration Building.
