JACKSON, Wyo. — The town of Jackson (TOJ) is reminding the community that Jackson is idle-free.

Resolution #10-19, passed over 10 years ago, designates Jackson as idle-free.

According to the town, “turning your car off reduces emissions, improves air quality, and will help you save money. Idling for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting your car. Driving your car warms it up faster than idling. Restarting your car is less harmful to your vehicle than idling. Idling wastes about .3 gallons per hour in cars and 1 gallon an hour in trucks.”

The Town has voluntarily implemented an idle-free program for Town departments and employees, which according to the town, has resulted in measurable reductions in fuel use and expenditure of public funds.
