JACKSON, Wyo. — Community members have the opportunity to donate blood today and tomorrow (Feb. 14 and 15), during the Jackson Community Blood Drive at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church.

According to Jackson Community Blood Drive Coordinator Jolene Moulder, blood donations have dropped 20 percent in the last three years, making it challenging to maintain an adequate supply of blood.

Recent blood drive cancellations caused by severe weather and illnesses (Covid, RSV and the flu) have added to the shortage.

Moulder said more than 2,000 donations went uncollected in December and early January due to blizzards and extreme cold, including over 200 units in Wyoming.

“Let’s fill up hospital shelves and make sure blood is available when a patient needs it,” Moulder said. “Tell your friends and coworkers that you’ve made an appointment to give blood and invite them to come with you to the drive.”
