JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson will continue to roll out the holiday merriment with a winter solstice celebration, a holiday singalong, Town Square Santa meet and greets and cookie decorating at Teton County Library.

Rendezvous “R” Park Solstice Celebration

Come celebrate the shortest day of the year during Jackson Hole Land Trust’s R Park Solstice Celebration and R Park Lantern Trail illumination this Thursday, Dec. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Community members are invited to enjoy free pozole and s’mores from Cooking in the Dark (while supplies last), and warm beverages. Children are encourage to bring a sled for sledding on the R Park’s varied knolls.

Two fire pits and a slew of heaters will provide a central hearth for raising a glass to community conservation.

On Wednesday, Dec. 6, the R Park’s Lantern Trail was lit with the glow of 275 solar lanterns to mark the countdown to the winter solstice. These lanterns are mason jars illuminated by solar lights which guide visitors along R Park’s snow-covered trails. All the lanterns were decorated by local school kids from classrooms across the valley.

Jam55 Holiday Sing Along

All are welcome to stretch their vocal cords and sing their favorites during the Jam55 Holiday Sing Along at the Senior Center of Jackson Hole this Friday, Dec. 15 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Led by Teton Music School instructor Susan Jones, an ensemble of adults 55 years and older will play a variety of instruments, including the ukulele, guitar, bass, accordion and bongos. This experienced musical group is ready to rock with a festive roster of holiday songs.

Santa on the Square

Capture the spirit of the holidays by visiting Santa on the Town Square throughout December.

Little ones can visit Santa in the evenings from 5 to 7 p.m., beginning this Sunday, Dec. 16 through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Hosted by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce, hot chocolate, holiday cookies and Christmas music are available nightly.

Winter Wonderland Cookie Decorating

Teton County Library will host their annual cookie decorating extravaganza this Saturday Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Children can decorate a Persephone Bakery mitten sugar cookie with frosting, and an assortment of candies. According to Teton County Library, a couple hundred cookies will be on hand for kids to decorate and take home.

Drop-in’s are welcome anytime before 1 p.m. This program is designed for children of all ages and accompanying adults. Parents are to attend and engage with their child for this program. Drop-offs will not be permitted.
