JACKSON, Wyo. — For a little over half a year, a group of men has gathered every month at St. John’s Episcopal Church to have hard conversations about what it means to be a man. The talks, hosted by St. John’s and Community Safety Network, try to unpack harmful gender stereotypes, gender inequality and gender-based violence.

When Buckrail sat down with panelist Jim Jinkens back in March, Jenkins said “The Manel” hoped to one day be open to women, too, but first men had to have these conversations on their own.

The time has come to expand The Manel’s reach. This month for the first time ever, The Manel is open to people of all genders.

Join Jenkins and “manelists” Reverend Jimmy Bartz, CSN Executive Director Andy Cavallaro, Ben Bretell, Ryan Burke, and Heath Miller to talk about allyship in the community.

“The Conversation for Men is looking forward to hosting its first co-ed event,” said Rev. Jimmy Bartz, Rector at St. John’s Church. “The topic for the conversation will be Allyship—exploring ways in which men and boys can become strong allies for women and girls.”

The hour-long event will include group discussion and small group breakouts so that attendees have a variety of ways to give feedback.

The first co-ed “Conversation for Men” is Thursday, November 14 at 6 p.m. in the Hansen Hall of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
