JACKSON, Wyo. — Often referred to as a maverick and known for reincarnating the use of pure 24 karat gold in modern fine jewelry, Gurhan’s transcending, hand-crafted collection combines a passion for ancient artisanal design with an unwavering dedication to superlative quality.

Defying the common practices, he studied the ancient craftsmen who were responsible for producing some of the world’s most magnificent and precious creations in 24 karat gold. Handmade with love, inspired by the rich cultures of the world and adorned with precious stones and diamonds, today Gurhan’s collection of classic jewelry designs has no peer. Regarded internationally with admiration and respect, his one-of-a-kind designs allow individual self-expression.

The artist’s in-depth understanding of gemstones and history makes his pieces even more unique. Pictured above, on left, The Guardian “Augusta” Necklace is part of a collection saluting the empowerment of women based on ancient Roman and Viking keys. In these ancient societies, keys were carried by women as a symbol of their status as the guardians of the home, the family wealth and all that was important to the society.

Equally fascinating is the story behind the pictured aquamarine pendant necklace on the right. A symbol of youth, health and hope, the aquamarine is March’s rich green/blue birthstone. Gurhan is intimately aware the ancient Romans believed that Neptune, god of the sea, had a special affiliation with it. According to legend, Neptune obtained the stone when it fell out of the sirens’ jewel box and washed up on the shore. These beliefs helped further the notion that aquamarine provides protection for sailors because, surely, Neptune wouldn’t want these jewels to disappear back into the sea.

It is these delightful tidbits that help weave the ornate tapestry that is the Gurhan collection. Explore and shop his magnificent pieces this week at Belle Cose’s Town Square and Four Seasons Resort locations (details below).
