The countdown is on, the goal in sight

JACKSON, WY — Over the past five weeks, the Community Safety Network and Teton Youth & Family Services have collaborated on a groundbreaking fundraising initiative — Growing Stronger Together. The first fundraiser of its kind in Jackson Hole, these nonprofits set their sights on an ambitious goal of $500,000.

Now, in the fundraiser’s final week, generous local philanthropist Henry McKinnell has made a $100,000 matching challenge grant to Growing Stronger Together; a contribution that has exceeded the fundraiser’s original goal.

The generous contribution from McKinnell challenges the Jackson Hole community to join him in investing in programs that are more critical in the aftermath of the pandemic than ever before.

Teton Youth & Family Services Director Sarah Cavallaro is equally confident that the community will meet McKinnell’s challenge and end the fundraising campaign on a resoundingly strong note.

“Mr. McKinnell’s challenge is tangible evidence of what our community truly understands: the services that our organizations provide are absolutely essential. The generosity that we’ve seen over these past weeks has made it abundantly clear that Jackson Hole values what we offer to the most vulnerable among us, and that the future of our work is important.”

Andy Cavallaro, executive director of Community Safety Network agrees: “As we watch our state funding diminish every year, the fact that the Jackson Hole community is committing to support our work with such generosity and enthusiasm is truly inspiring. With over 85% of our budgets going directly to client services, it’s clear that there’s fierce belief in our causes and the community values all that we do.”

Combined, CSN and TYFS have a basic operating cost of $4 million, 85% of which goes directly to cost-free services including shelter, advocacy, and other post-crisis support. Primarily due to ever-expanding state funding cuts, the two organizations collectively raise $1.6 million each year in private philanthropy to ensure these essential services are available.

The Growing Stronger Together fundraising campaign ends on Tuesday, June 15th. “We are so grateful and energized by this exciting challenge by Mr. McKinnell,” says Sarah Cavallaro. “We hope the community will act quickly and make their gifts now so that we can earn these matching funds and continue helping those who need it most.”
